Our gambling news this week takes us to Las Vegas, where the World Series of Poker started a few days ago at Bally’s Casino! Or is it The Horseshoe? Either way, if you’re heading to Sin City anytime soon, you should also know that there are some Las Vegas casinos that are still closed from the Coronavirus shutdown!
This weeks gambling news sees the 2022 World Series of Poker get underway at Bally’s Casino in Las Vegas! People are playing, and bracelets are being passed out. But, if you’re planning a trip to Vegas for the WSOP or just to have some fun, there are still several casinos closed from the pandemic. Some of those are Texas Station, Fiesta Rancho, and Fiesta Henderson, which are all owned and operated by Station Casinos.
Fiesta Henderson will most likely remain closed for the rest of this year, while Texas Station and Fiesta Rancho are already scheduled to be closed until at least until June of next year! Plus, there’s speculation that Station could decide to sell one or all of those properties.
Additionally, regulated sports betting in Massachusetts this year may not happen. But the governor is still using the NBA Finals to promote the idea as the Boston Celtics are playing in the championship series versus the Golden State Warriors. Governor
Charlie Baker says that his states failure to regulate sports betting only benefits the black market, while simultaneously sending bettors there to other states where the activity is legal and regulated. So basically, the same argument for regulation that we’ve been using for the past 20 years!
