This week we have online gambling news from several states as they try to get some last minute legislation passed before the end of the legislative year! On our show from May 24th we spoke about the 15 states still without sports betting regulation. We even said that is was unlikely that any of those states would pass legislation this year. But now Massachusetts trying to make a liar out of me!
The Massachusetts Senate has a bill and the state House has a bill. But the two are still pretty far apart when it comes to betting on college games, tax rates, and how many licensees they will allow. All issues that could be easily resolved. Now lawmakers are going to get together to see if they can work out their differences in time to get an online gambling news bill done this year!
Meanwhile, sports betting is legal in the state of Ohio, but no one there has made a bet yet! Why? Well the legislation was passed last December, but players are still waiting for the damn thing to launch! The state Gambling Commission has finally set a firm launch date of January 1st.
Also, the gambling news on Maryland sports betting finds the activity is also legal and waiting for things to go mobile. That could come as soon as the kickoff of this year’s NFL season, if the governor gets his way.
Plus, sports betting is legal in North Carolina with just a week left in this session to get a deal done to allow mobile sports betting.. If they’re successful, North Carolina will become the 20th state to make online gambling news!
