This week we’re discussing the Resorts World Las Vegas robbery, which took place last week, where the high roller cash cage was taken for several thousand dollars. And wait until you hear how the thief got away! But the lead story in this video is how online poker players had tens of thousands of dollars stolen via a vulnerability with a payment processor!
A man recently committed a brazen Resorts World Las Vegas robbery when he hit their High Roller cash cage at two in the morning on a weekday! Then, the crook simply walked out the door and disappeared into the night! And you may find his get away car a little hard to believe! The police did eventually track down their man, who was on probation, and you won’t believe why he was on probation! Zubaid Al Jarmi has now been charged with robbery with a deadly weapon, burglary, and possession of a deadly weapon. He is being held without bail.
And while our “in person” criminal was committing the Resorts World Las Vegas robbery, more sinister thieves were targeting online poker players at the WSOP website, BetMGM, and more. Using a vulnerability with the Global Payment Gaming Solutions system, these crooks stole as much as $10,000 at a time… right out of players bank accounts!
They used fake Venmo MasterCards to withdraw the stolen funds before anyone knew what was happening. BetMGM is working to make sure players get their lost funds returned. However, our calls to Global Payment Gaming Solutions for comment on the thefts went unanswered. You can find more details on this story, and the Resorts World robbery, on our sister site.
