We’re reporting from Sin City, just outside of the new Las Vegas Sphere set to open later this year! What is the Sphere? Why will it be so amazing inside and out? We’ve got all the data, plus the dates of the first shows, and information on the first concert as well!
If you’ve been to Las Vegas recently, you might have noticed a massive black dome-shaped building behind the Venetian. That, my friends, is the MSG Sphere! And although it’s still under construction and not accessible to the public, the folks at Madison Square Garden (MSG) Entertainment were kind enough to share some information about what you can expect when it does open later this year.
The Sphere has scheduled its first show for October 6th, featuring a fully immersive production called “Postcard from Earth.” This impressive structure stands nearly 400 feet tall and spans over 500 feet in width. Its exterior is covered in 580,000 square feet of programmable LED lights, making it a breathtaking sight to behold. Inside, the MSG Sphere boasts the highest resolution LED screen in the world, with a massive 160,000 square foot display that wraps up, over, and behind the audience. This means that over 17,000 people will be able to enjoy an unparalleled visual experience.
But this amazing Vegas venue is not just about visuals – it also promises an advanced audio system that delivers crystal clear sound to every guest and seat. Using “spatialized” 4D technology and an infrasound haptic system, guests will be able to feel the music and sounds as they literally vibrate through their bodies, creating a truly immersive sensory experience. The Sphere will also incorporate environmental effects, such as changing temperatures and smells, to transport guests to another location.
In addition to the “Postcard from Earth” show, the MSG Sphere has already lined up its first concert, and it’s set to be a legendary one. The rock group U2 will be the first band to grace the stage of this spectacular new venue in the fall, making it a highly anticipated event for music fans. So, if you’re planning a trip to Las Vegas later this year, be sure to keep an eye out for the grand opening of the MSG Sphere at the Venetian. It’s bound to be an unforgettable experience with its cutting-edge technology and world-class performances.
